FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Florida Sen. Rick Scott will be the keynote speaker at this year's Allen County GOP Reagan Bean dinner.

Local party officials said Scott -- the current chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and a former governor -- will address attendees at Ceruti's Banquet & Event Center on Oct. 8.

Though he has made no declarations regarding his intent, Scott is considered a possible candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

Allen County Republican Party Chairman Steve Shine said the 2021 Reagan Bean event marks the return of traditional gatherings following several cancellations over the past year-and-a-half.

He said the October dinner "will be part of a national effort to regain the Republican majority in both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives."

Shine thanked Indiana U.S. Sen. Todd Young for helping make the arrangements for Scott to appear.
